Our Story

My early years were spent growing up in India, in a blue-collar town, where my father worked for Tata Motors – the current owner of Jaguar and Land Rover. Attending a Jesuit school until high school taught me discipline, values, and morals, as there were no distractions like television or computers. At sixteen, I left to Mumbai, searching for a better education, a better career, and a better life.

At twenty-one, I arrived on US soil eager for opportunity, with two suitcases, twenty dollars, and a mix of fear in my heart and fire in my belly. To save money, I had to sleep on the floor and survived on a diet of bagels and ramen. I had to scrimp if I wanted to fly home every few years to visit my family. I attended graduate school to obtain my Master’s in Economics and Ph.D. in Finance – always recognizing that education is key to a pathway out of poverty.

I love the USA – the only country in the world where one day you can be a nobody and the very next day you can become a great success and live the American dream. After successful stints in the investments industry, my career took off to unimaginable heights and at age 31, I became the youngest Dean to lead a Business School at a major University. After this, even more honor and success came my way when I became the Dean at Sacramento State, where I served for 10 years and had the privilege to work with the community to earn more recognition, visibility, and built one of the most respected brands. More recently, I had the good fortune of working as a senior investment executive at Wells Fargo Private Bank - a multi-trillion-dollar operation, helping people with financial success.

After three decades of working to build my own career and wealth, I decided it was time to hang it up and dedicate the next chapter of my life helping people and businesses avoid making financial mistakes to both preserve and build wealth. I am living proof, and my life story of rags to riches is evidence and reminder that you too can enjoy financial independence and reach your desired goals with a good financial plan and a disciplined approach to investing.

I grew up in the border town of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. At an early age, my parents sent me to bilingual school to learn English, always recognizing the importance the US played in the world. My parents were essential in my upbringing and instilled in me the values of responsibility, commitment, and hard work. We moved to El Paso, Texas, where I excelled in academics by graduating in the top 10% of my class and led as captain of the soccer team.

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘em Horns!) and was accepted into their business program at the prestigious McCombs School of Business. During my education and training years, I had the opportunity to study one summer under top business faculty at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Eager to expand my investment management expertise, I also earned my Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation, which in the last 10 years has had a completion rate of less than 13%. Successful candidates typically spend 4 years and over 1200 hours mastering the curriculum applied by investment professionals globally. I am proud to be part of a global network that constantly pushes themselves for the betterment of the industry.

Over a decade ago, I began my career in wealth management. During my most recent tenure at Wells Fargo Private Bank I became one of the youngest Vice Presidents and Investment Strategists in the firm managing over $400 million in assets. I’m deeply familiar with the proper investment philosophy required in institutional and fiduciary environments and have managed money for high net worth families and large organizations across the country. Mastering the “how-to” in investing is crucial, but I am always honored to build a meaningful connection with the great families and organizations I serve and throughout my wealth management career, it has been nothing short of a privilege to do so across California, Texas, New Mexico, and even across international borders for clients in Latin America.

My goal has always been to build my own company where I could escape the bureaucracy and constant revenue growth focus of a big firm and instead focus on my clients. I always believed this was the best way to offer premier service to the great families I serve and I am passionate about working closely with those families to ensure they are in the best position to achieve their goals.

Come to Goldenstone – it would be our honor to earn your trust and become your partner in your life journey toward your destination of financial success.
